19th Century Stag Handle Rifleman's Knife Ca. 1830
Ex Coll. Gordon Minnis
The rifleman’s knife is one of the most desirable personal objects sought after by Kentucky rifle collectors. Used for years by the original owner this knife exists in wonderful condition. The blade (5 & ½ inches) is wrought from an old file and permanently lodged in a bold piece of crown stag. No doubt the rifleman who owned and used this knife was a large man judging from the size of the handle.
I purchased this from Gordon Minnis, a well know authority and collector of frontier knives, several years ago. An inventory number, 298, is clearly legible on the blade.
