Signed "G Weiker gun Smith" George Weiker, Richland Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania ca 1790
Ex Coll. Joe Kindig

This example of Weiker's early work in Bucks County is embelsihed with wonderful carving, inlays, engraving, and superb architecture. Pictured and described in Shumway's "Colonial Rifles in America" Vol 1 (no 62) showing Weiker as a progenitor of the Bucks County style. Many details in his engraving are repeated in his carving designs. The rifle has seen alot of use exhibiting wear on both metal and wood. All metal mounts are original except 1 ramrod pipe and the fore end cap. The thumb plate appers to be an old replacement; the original owners initials were usually engraved on the thumb plate. A subsequent owner may have had it replaced.
