Unsigned John Hagy, Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA ca 1810
Several details on this rifle point to John Hagy. The carving design behind the cheekpiece, the patchbox design, side plate, and forestock molding all point to signed examples of his work. The lock is original to the rifle and is in original flintlock condition. Two small pieces of wood replaced on forestock. The 44.25 inch barrel about .54 cal has an owners initials stamped on top flat. Surfaces are original and has never been cleaned. John Hagy's work is desireable and well done. This ia a nice original example of a Lancaster rifle which is affordable, and pleasing.
