Unsigned John Lauck, Winchester, Virginia ca 1820.
John and Jacob Lauck worked with their father Simon Lauck in Winchester, Virginia from the late 1790's. John died in 1828 and Jacob lived a long life. This example is a better than average with many silver inlays and nicely sculpted carving. The barrel was shortened 2 inches and luckily the underpinng loops were moved. The lock is replaced as is the sideplate. The rear sight was moved back and the old recess was left unfilled. Rifles by any of the Lauck family are rare and desireable. The condition creates an opportunity to own this example at an affordable price.
